The attendance of lectures is one the most important attribute for learning in my opinion because students acquire quite a large amount of information from lectures in a short period of time. Depending on the time allocated and the amount of information given, lectures could be sometimes boring and too long for students. There are fairly enough people who believe that there is little or no importance of going to lectures and subsequently avoid it but they often have it hard when trying to explain things. If a building doesn't have a solid foundation it could crash from strong winds also if one doesn't know the foundation of a topic the he/she answer would therefore become inaccurate
The most important part of a lecture is note taking because one summarizes a large amount of information in few pages instead of recording or writing every piece of information. Though note taking is a skill that develops overtime one must not depend on it alone. There are other ways to acquire information passed in lectures, either by using the powerpoint slides or listen again some individuals are able to receive the same information. In order to receive double information lecture attendance is recommended.
The issue about revision is sometimes complicated. Most people wait until the last minute to revise for tests and exams but it doesn't seem to help. This is because revision is a gradual process of studying already known information instead of last minute non stop study. If one revises gradually then it would benefit one a lot more than last minute hectic studying.
